Yosemite

Yosemite National Park is a place of great beauty. I was very fortunate to have a chance to visit it. The view of tall granite walls, waterfalls, trees, meadows and wildlife give joy to every guest.
I took a lot of pictures there. Now I'm using them as reference photos to my paintings.
I like the top painting better. The colors are vibrant and trees have much better shapes. I remember us walking down the bridge to dip our bare feed in the cool water. After long hike this place was great for restoring our energy.

  1. Hi Alina! Love your videos especially "Autumn Forest" & "Foggy Trees". Alina I am very new to the watercolor medium,I've been drawing for many years and consider myself a "humorous illustrator hobbyist". I am also a fan of the old background art of the Disney classics like Snow White & many others. I find watercolor kind of difficult to work with, like too many "rules" to know prior to application! It is a very unforgiving & uncontrollable medium, lol! My question to you today is how long can you leave masking fluid on Strathmore 500 Series illustration board for wet media? That is the surface I use because I also do some inking with watercolor & ink doesn't "bleed or spread" on this paper if you will. I also use Dr. Martin liquid watercolors, fyi. Hope you make more of your wonderful videos soon, & thanks so much for your time & hope to hear from you soon! Best, Lee Fortuna, Warwick NY. trikid@optonline.net

    1. Hi Lee,
Thank you for your comment I'm glad you like my paintings. The watercolor medium is not easy but worth trying because there's not much to loose when you fail. Just a piece of paper haha. Also the more you paint the more control you gain.
I never used the illustration board so I can't answer your question. For paper, I don't think the masking fluid has a holding limit on the paper. You just have to remember that when you're removing it, the paint has to be completely dry.
Lee, I would like to see your inking someday :).
      Happy painting
      Alina

  2. Thanks for replying Alina! I will try to show you one of my illustrations someday but I am not very "computer savey",LOL,! I just wanted you to know I "tried" to paint a mothers day card using watercolor pencils because I thought it would be quicker than breaking out the watercolors. Well, I didn't like the way it turned out at all! Looks like a little kid used crayons in pre-K class, ugh! I don't know why color is such an issue for me. Anyway, thanks again!
