Moonlight Village
Hello All, It's been awhile.
Usually I'm drawing or painting from real life, this time I made a watercolor from my imagination. I love creating unusual, magical scenes, good for some fairy tail story.
First I worked really hard on my sketch. That mean I draw and erase in terns until I got a composition I like. Painting was a pleasure because I love this color combination. Mainly I used 3 colors: yellow ochre, phthalo and ultramarine blue.

I made my first real video tutorial Moonlight Village. So far I made a lot of speed painting videos but I don't think anybody can learn from such. So please enjoy this one, and let me know what you think

Drawings
I find drawing so much easier then watercolor painting. You just need to have simple paper, some pencils and eraser. For watercolor you have to have expensive paper, good paints and good plan of action. I like to paint mountain brook and I've been thinking how to do it for a couple of days.I hope I'll start today...

Color versus Black&White
They say the watercolors are all about water and colors so I painted this Autumn woodland with water and all colors of the rainbow. The scene is a place from my imagination.
I like vibrant colors - they make me happy. On the other hand I can feel that this picture is too colorful and because of that not real. What is the point of painting real images? We can see them all around. Lately I'm asking myself a question which road should I go - realism or abstract? Is it possible to jump back and forth these two roads?
Immediately after paining "crazy colors" I have to draw black & white. Simple drawings calm my state of being. It is right what they say about "art" that it is all about emotions.

Pet Portrait Commisions OPEN
I paint animals in abstract way. They can be blue or green or in any other color of the rainbow. I use India ink to capture the pet's nature and then I paint over it in watercolors.
If you would like your pet to be painted in this style, I'd be more then happy to help.
Here are some simple steps to follow:
- contact me by sending a note or leaving a comment below. We will exchange email addresses.
- Send me 2-3 good quality photos. Pictures need to be sharp, taken without flash, and preferably outside in slightly cloudy weather, or during "golden hour" . For the best results take the photo on pet's eye level. I love to see sparkles in those little eyes. Here is a good examples of photo I took. Please, do your best, and keep in mind that I will work with what I am given.

June Flowers in Bloom
It looks like I've painted one picture in cool and one in warm colors. A white Clematis is front lit while a Tiger Lily has a back light. So far I prefer painting white flowers so Clematis is my favorite. With Tiger lily the colors of shadows were tricky and it was very hard to paint the sun shining through the petals. Well, I tried to do my best.

Backyard Hare
I painted this one from the photograph. This time I used India ink first then I added watercolor paints. Complementary tones work well here. I used yellow ocher, light brown, little bit of red, Prussian blue and deep green.
We have a lot of wild rabbits at our backyard. Whenever I'm walking my dog I keep my camera handy. The rabbits are not very fearful. I have a feeling that they figured it out that the dogs are on leash.
The more rabbits there are, the more foxes can prey on them, so also there are lots of foxes in our neighborhood. They are rather hard to photograph because they are extremely shy.

Magnolia
Magnolia trees have large and beautiful flowers. This particular one grows at
my neighbor's front-yard. Also flowers have nice smell, unfortunately I
can't paint it :)
Interesting fact: Fossilized specimens of plants belonging to the Magnolia family have been found dating to 95 million years ago. They appeared before bees did. The flowers evolved later to encourage pollination by beetles.
It is so hard to imagine world without flowers and bees, isn't it?

Phil Bosmans Quote
Old Tree
That's not easy to capture beautiful photo. You need a good light, well defined subject and good composition. Painting seems easier because you can manipulate the reality. Usually I feel like my paintings are nicer then photos. In this case thought I think the photo is the one I would like to hung up on the wall.

Tree BranchTriptych
This is my latest project - simple oil/latex painting
If you'd like to create similar painting this is the list of materials I used:
BEHR "Mushroom Bisque" latex paint for the wall
and 3 canvas 24" x 48"
Background colors:
"Crumb Cookie" Olympic latex (or you can use any white paint)
"Caruso" Olympic latex (or any light beige you've
got)
"Cellini Gold" BEHR latex (or pale yellow)
"Mushroom Bisque" BEHR latex (the same paint that
I used for the wall)
2" flat brush
For the background you can try your own combination of
colors. Lowes and Home Depot have a nice selection of sample colors in small
containers. Try to keep your background light and muted so the branch stands
out.
Branch:
Van Dyke brown - I used Bob Ross oil paint but you can use
any dark brown paint
Midnight Black - Bob Ross oil paint but again you can use
any black for brunch shady parts
"Cellini Gold" BEHR latex for highlights
